The story is set in the year 2172, in Tao City, where the sport of New Baseball dominates. This futuristic version of the traditional sport incorporates artificial gravity, and it sets the stage for an extraordinary tale. The protagonist, Candy Cunningham, an 18-year-old pitcher, must confront both a formidable batter and a crowd of fans who never expected to see a girl on the pitchers mound.
